Project Engineer
Our Engineering and Drafting Department is growing and has a career opportunity for a Project Engineer.
Based out of our Nisku office and reporting to the Engineering Manager, the nature of this work involves the supervision of the engineering portion of special projects which may include specification review, design, drawings, and documentation.
Main Duties Include:
-
Direct and coordinate the engineering portion of special projects work, which may include specification review, design calculations, approving drawings, and preparing procedures and documentation;
-
Monitor engineering progress against the contract to ensure areas of work affected by Engineering are on-time and within budget. Advise Contracts Representatives of any delays or extra costs as soon as these are recognized;
-
Coordinate Engineering portion of work with Contracts and Operations personnel;
-
Generate detailed designs of storage tanks, pressure vessels, process equipment, and custom fabrication as required;
-
Resolve outstanding design issues and pursue contract clarifications as required;
-
Approve drawings for construction;
-
Address shop and customer enquiries regarding deaigns;
-
Ensure that accurate and timely documentation is filed or submitted to close out projects; and
-
Apply P.Eng. stamp to drawings or other documents when appropriate to do so.
Job and Skill Requirements:
Given the role this individual will be able to play in the growth of the company's business, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following skills, attributes and experience:
-
Extensive knowledge of and experience working with technical specifications;
-
Holds or is eligible for P.Eng. designation in the Province of Alberta;
-
Proven leadership and technical project management skills;
-
Working knowledge of API-12F, API-650, API-653, API-620, ASME Section VIII, Division 1, CSA-B51, Alberta OH&S, and good engineering practice; and
-
Effective written and oral communications skills in the English language for frequent interactions with co-workers and customers.
Physical mobility is required to access shop facilities including the ability to climb ladders or stairs and enter a tank through an elevated manway access. Overtime may be required, dependent upon workload and staffing levels.

Drafting Project Lead (Drafting Technologist)
Our Engineering and Drafting Department is growing and has a career opportunity for a Drafting Technologist as a Drafting Project Lead.
Based out of our Nisku office and reporting to the Engineering Manager and Drafting Supervisor, this position will prepare complex drawings at a very senior level as well as directing and coordinating the activities of less senior drafting personnel working on projects.
Main Duties Include:
-
Generate drawings of storage tanks, pressure vessels, process equipment and custom fabrication as required;
-
Direct and coordinate the engineering portion of special projects work, which may include specification review, task delegation, preparing project documentation, drawing checking, and approving drawings for construction;
-
Resolve outstanding drawing issues and pursue contract clarifications as required;
-
Shows seasoned understanding of GLM quality systems, industry codes, and standards and is able to apply them effectively in varied situations;
-
Takes initiative and works with the Drafting Supervisor to develop, and implement better drafting practices and standards as these become available; and
-
Acts as a mentor for new drafting technologists.

Field Project Manager
Our Field Service and Refurbishment Division is growing and G.L.M. is looking for an experienced Field Project Manager.
Based out of our Nisku office and reporting to our Field Services Operations Manager, the Field Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, organization, direction, control and evaluation of activies of an assigned field project(s).
Main Duties Include:
-
Plan and preapre construction schedules and milestones, monitor progress against established schedules;
-
Preparation of contracts, their negotiation, and revisions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontracted services;
-
Prepare progress reports and the issuance of progress schedules to clients;
-
Direct the procurement and transportation of material and equipment to project sites;
-
Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and administrative/support staff members;
Job and Skill Requirements:
Given the role this individual will be able to play in the growth of the company's business, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following skills, attributes and experience:
-
University degree in Engineering (Mechanical);
-
Degree or certification program in Project Management;
-
Several (3-5) years of experience in the construction industry, including experience as a construction supervisor or field superintendent;
-
Extensive experience in the industry may be considered for post-secondary educational requirements.
-
A self-starter with a highly energetic, results oriented work style combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
-
Strong computer skills including scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet development/use, and e-mail;
-
Competency in the writing, reading, and interpretation of both technical and legal documentation;
