Apprentice Programs
Every member of the G.L.M. family shares the recognition that
it is essential for companies like G.L.M. ensure there is a
constant pool of skilled labour. Already, there is a lack of
skilled personnel in some of the trades, including welding,
the backbone of G.L.M.'s production.
Our company is working closely with the trades, by doing
such things as supporting a steel fabricators' course, and
has an aggressive apprenticeship program.
In 2005, for example, more than half the welding apprentices
in Saskatchewan were in G.L.M.'s program. The company provides
on-going training and education in new techniques, and
encourages all its employees to become certified in their
area of expertise. Today the company employs more than 100
apprentices in the system, apprenticing in such trades as
welding, crane operating, and painting and coating.
